Biography

Naomi Sermet (b. Macau, Portugal) is a French artist based in London and Paris. Her practice explores themes of duality, mimicry, and survival, informed by cross-cultural experiences and a multidisciplinary academic background, including bioengineering, social sciences, and visual arts.

She holds an MA from Sciences Po Paris and an MSc from Imperial College London. Naomi has received scholarships and funding including the Lucy Halford Bursary (2025, full merit-based), support from the Denise Coates Foundation (2026), and the Alexandre Yersin Scholarship (2015), and she was shortlisted for the Ali H. Alkazzi and Basil H. Alkazzi Scholarship Award (2025). Her work has been recognized with awards such as the Special Prize of Géant des Beaux-Arts(France Galop, 2023) and the Public Prize at Binômes Centenaires (Art & Motion, Paris, 2023), and she was nominated for the Sciences Po Contemporary Art Prize (2024).

Naomi’s projects have been featured in Le Quotidien de l’ArtPoint ContemporainLe MauricienArtensionArtmajeur Magazine, and Arts in the City. She has participated in residencies across Europe and the Arctic, including 59 Rivoli (Paris, 2023), Akureyri Art Museum (Iceland, 2023), and Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort Art Gallery (Finland, 2022). Her work has been exhibited across Europe and is held in collections such as France Galop (France) and Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort Art Gallery (Finland).

Naomi is currently pursuing an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art, London, with the full support of the Lucy Halford Bursary and the Denise Coates Foundation.
